Work Environment
Our hospital-based physical therapy setting offers a collaborative and dynamic work environment. As a PTA, you will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. You will typically work a Monday through Friday schedule, with flexible hours such as 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, allowing for a balanced work-life experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in conducting comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical capabilities and limitations, securing accurate measurements for treatment planning.
  • Implement tailored treatment plans designed by Physical Therapists, focusing on techniques that enhance patient mobility, strength, balance, and overall functional ability.
  • Utilize hands-on manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, and various modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic and comprehensive care to patients, facilitating interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and update treatment plans accordingly.
  • Educate patients and their families on home exercise regimens, proper use of assistive devices, and strategies for injury prevention, ensuring they feel supported throughout their recovery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment interventions, and patient progress according to company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Actively engage in professional development through workshops, further certifications, and training opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role will primarily focus on patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions, ranging from post-operative individuals to those dealing with long-term mobility limitations. You will have the chance to impact the lives of patients across various ages, empowering them to regain their independence and enjoyment of everyday activities through your therapy interventions.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
  • A valid PTA license issued by the state of California is mandatory.
  • Possess an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapist Assisting (AAS PTA Degree).
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and patient engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a diverse team and connect with patients and their families.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of one year of experience in orthopedic physical therapy settings is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from USD 50,000 to USD 70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
