This position is based onsite at our Hayward outpatient office, where you will work closely with a collaborative team of health professionals. Key Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized therapeutic plans under the guidance of licensed physical therapists, ensuring positive patient outcomes.
  • Assist patients in executing a variety of exercise regimens aimed at improving strength, flexibility, and overall mobility.
  • Utilize manual therapy techniques, stretching, and therapeutic massage to reduce pain and enhance mobility.
  • Monitor and document patient progress before, during, and after therapy sessions, discussing observations with supervising therapists.
  • Instruct patients in the safe use of ambulatory equipment, including walkers and canes, to facilitate independent mobility.
  • Educate both patients and their family members about at-home exercises, lifestyle modifications, and post-treatment self-care strategies.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of support staff and less experienced colleagues to foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned to maintain efficient clinic operations.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgery, sports injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Our patient demographic varies from active athletes to older adults seeking rehabilitation to regain mobility. Providing compassionate, patient-centered care is essential in helping them achieve their recovery goals.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from a CAPTE (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education)-Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
  • Possess a valid California Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) License and an AAS PTA degree.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients and team members.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy is preferred.
  • Experience in mentoring junior staff or providing training is advantageous.
